Christian Geert Schiotz, Jr., age 80 years, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at Jefferson Abington Hospital in Abington PA. He has lived in Ringoes NJ for nearly 50 years.
Born November 27, 1940 in Mount Holly NJ, Christian was the son of the late Christian G. Sr. and Elizabeth (Haines) Schiotz. The family moved from Mount Holly to Hopewell NJ when he was a young boy and Christian loved the Hopewell countryside and rural setting, where he was a lifeguard for a few years. He graduated from Princeton High School and during that time, he worked at Princeton University in the Science Department where he developed what would be a lifetime interest in electronics. This “interest” became a vocation when he graduated from Trenton State College with a Bachelors Degree.
After graduation from college, Christian served his country in the United States Navy from 1961 to 1966, serving as an Electronics Technician during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Christian met and later married, Josephine B. Roberts. The couple had four girls in five years, eventually adding their son a few years later. He worked for many years commuting to New York City for Merrill Lynch and Bear Stearns primarily in television production and the setup of communication networks for those companies in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and London, eventually retiring in 2004.
Christian spent his time away from work enjoying playing tennis, golf, fly-fishing, boating (especially with his son, Christian III), and being a ham radio operator under the call name, “K2PGB.” He was an Elder with the Larison’s Corner Church in Ringoes for many years.
Christian always had an interest in science, he would often take the time to observe and understand how things worked. His love of classical and early country music extended to his abilities to play the guitar and the keyboard, and before retiring to slumber each night, he would let the beauty of classical music lull him to sleep. Christian’s natural ability to make people feel comfortable was frequently displayed to those who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, Christian was predeceased by his daughter, Cathy Esposito in 2016. He is survived by his three daughters, Judith Bernadette Schiotz of Phillipsburg NJ, Janet Schiotz of Henderson NV, and Christa Cottrell of Ringoes NJ, his son, Christian G. Schiotz, III, of Warminster PA, his nine grandchildren and his three great-grandchildren.
