Christine A. Metz

February 27, 1951 — March 21, 2024

Christine A. Metz, age 73, died Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Hunterdon Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Born February 27, 1951 in Queens NY, Christine was the daughter of the late Bronislaus “Ben” and Florence (Borysewicz) Kozlowski. She grew up on Long Island in Greenlawn NY and graduated from John H. Glenn High School, at which time Christine volunteered as a Candy Striper at Huntington Hospital in Huntington NY and began a life-long passion for helping people. She attended SUNY Farmingdale and became a Registered Nurse, first working at Huntington Hospital for 15 years and then becoming the School Nurse for the Henry Viscardi School in Albertson NY. After moving to New Jersey in 1998, she was self-employed as a private nurse for many years.

Many days at her home in Kingwood Township, Christine could be found watching and feeding the many birds that frequented her yard, tending to her flower garden, reading a favorite Amish novel, or watching a program on the Hallmark Channel. She enjoyed listening to music, especially from artists like Josh Groban, Enya, Andrea Bocelli, or some Classical music selection. A great cook, her family was often treated to her famous pierogies or a stack of her delicious French toast.

Christine and her high-school sweetheart and husband, Louis Metz, III, would travel to favorite places in Vermont and Illinois to visit with friends and family. A survivor of cancer for more than 10 years, it was the time spent by “O’ma” with her family and especially her two grandchildren that extended her fight to live each day to its fullest.

In addition to her parents, Christine was predeceased by her sister, Susan Kozlowski. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis J. Metz, III, daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Metz and Karim Daoud of Pittstown NJ, her son and daughter-in-law, Louis J. and Melissa Metz, IV, her two grandchildren, Alexandria and Yussof, her three brothers, Paul and Connie Kozlowski of Greenlawn NY, Jon and Aga Kozlowski of Smyrna GA, and Matthew Kozlowski of Greenlawn NY, as well as her niece, Caitlin, her nephews, Ryan, Kuba, Carl, Kurt (Bobbi) and her niece, Laura.
