Clarence F. Spencer, age 87 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died Thursday, January 23, 2014 in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Raritan Township, NJ, October 6, 1926, son of the late John F. and Anna E. Lair Spencer, he had formerly resided in Lebanon, NJ, before moving to Readington Township in 1987.
Clarence was formerly Road Supervisor for Tewksbury Township for many years and later was automation controller for Barrett Paving, Bound Brook, NJ. He was a member of the Readington Township Seniors.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Moore and her husband J. Forest Moore of Kernersville, NC, Mary Lou Herder of Nazareth, PA, Brenda Wickersham and her husband Francis Wickersham of King of Prussia, PA; a son-in-law, Jeff Carter of Whitehouse Station, NJ; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a brother, Edward Spencer of Springfield, OH.
He was pre-deceased by his wife, Viola G. Turner Spencer in 2011 as well as by a daughter, Judy Carter, who died in 2006. He was also pre-deceased by a brother,John Spencer.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at 10:30AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, followed by interment in Newell Cemetery, Stanton, NJ. Calling hours will be Tuesday 7:00-9:00PM in the funeral home.
