Clyde Cox, Jr., age 76 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Sunday, April 3, 2011, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in High Bridge, NJ, December 11, 1934, he was the son of the late Clyde and Minnie Beam Cox, Sr.
He worked for Mannon Excavating Company, Raritan Township, NJ, retiring after thirty-nine years there. He had also previously worked on the Robert Manners Farm, Wertsville, NJ
A former stock car driver at the Flemington Speedway, Mr. Cox was the 1957 Novice Champion. He enjoyed racing all his life and particularly enjoyed watching both his sons and grandsons race as well.
Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Harrington of Pittstown, NJ and Jody Boatright of Blackshear, GA; two sons, Clyde Cox III of Flemington, NJ and Philip Cox of Raritan Township, NJ; a sister, Lillian Burd in Texas; two brothers, Ken Baumgartner in Florida and Bill Baumgartner in Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
