Cora W. Mathews, 93, a former longtime resident of Mt. Airy, New Jersey died peacefully on Wednesday July 9, 2014 at the Emerald Bay Retirement Community in Cumberland, RI. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Stanley D. Mathews in 1999, at which time she relocated to Rhode Island.

Cora was born, raised, and spent most of her adult life in Mt. Airy, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late Grover and Edna Williamson. She was one of eight children and often would fondly recall her childhood years growing up on the Williamson Dairy Farm with her siblings who became her lifelong good friends as well.

Cora leaves two children: Eleanor Billiat and her husband Henry, of Deland, FL; and Joel Mathews and his wife Sharon of Sutton, MA. In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren: Karen Hopkins, who along with her husband Scott and three children reside in West Grove, PA, Kristi Blank, who along with her husband Daniel and child reside in Clementon, NJ, Lisa Janicki, who along with her husband Allan and three children reside in Lincoln, RI, and Christian Mathews who resides in Pottstown, PA. In addition, she is survived by seven great-children: Tyler, Cody, and Madison Hopkins; Rebecca Blank; and Hannah, Thomas, and Abigail Janicki.

Cora was very active her entire life in her beloved community of Mt. Airy doing good deeds and befriending and providing assistance to many along the way. She, and her husband Stanley, were very active and involved in the operations of the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, serving in many capacities.

A memorial service will be held for Cora on Saturday July 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, formerly known as the Second English Presbyterian Church of Amwell, with burial immediately following in Mt. Airy Cemetery, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Cora will be greatly missed by her loving family as well as her many friends.
