Craig Proctor, age 84 years, passed away on December 9, 2018, at his home.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Marion George and Clifford Proctor.
Craig was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University, the Graduate School of Sales and Management Executives International at Syracuse University, the Professional School of Business and the Realty Institute of New Jersey.
He and his family moved to New Jersey in the early 60’s to become one of the early members of Ortho Diagnostics of Johnson & Johnson where he served as salesman, Product Manager, Product Director, Division Manager of the Lake Central Division in Ann Arbor, MI, Regional Manager of the Western U.S. in Kansas City and Sales Manager of the newly formed instrument division in Raritan, NJ. He was proud to have been the Product Manager during the developmental and premarketing stages of RhoGAM that prevents the Rh baby.
In 1975, he formed PROCTOR ASSOCIATES, a real estate sales and consulting firm in Flemington, NJ and merged into Coldwell Banker in 1995. He was President of the Hunterdon County Board of Realtors; Vice-President of the NJ Association of Realtors; and Vice-Chair of the Commercial and Industrial Division. He was chosen Realtor of the Year for NJ.
He was a member of the Board of Directors of Health Products Research, Inc.; the Altech Corporation; New age Development Corporation; Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce; YMCA; President of the Hunterdon Economics Partnership; the Flemington Rotary Club; and vice-chair of the Hunterdon Agricultural Development Board and Hunterdon County Housing Corp. He was also an elder in the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Craig was a Captain in the US Air Force and, after flying school served in the Philippine Islands, and held a Captain License for both sail and power up to 100 tons as a Merchant Marine Officer with the USCG.
He is survived by his caring and loving wife of sixty-one years, Jo Lynn; daughters, Pamela and Jennifer, son Tom and his wife, Julie, and grandsons, Ian and Owen, and son, Ben, his wife, Sarah and granddaughter, Lucy Jo.
Craig loved the Boy Scouts of America being a veteran of more than seventy-two years of registration. He received the Silver Beaver and Distinguished Citizen of the Year Awards as well as the NESA Outstanding Eagle Scout Award. Craig also served on the executive board of the George Washington Council, BSA, and served as their Council Commissioner.
Services will be private for the family only under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Private interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington.
