Cristofforus J.M. Gerards

Cristofforus J.M. Gerards, age 84 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Born June 30, 1934 in The Netherlands, he was the son of the late Johannes and Wilhelmina Kellenaers Gerards. Cris was an avid student of history and possessed the ability to retell a story with a great sense of humor. He loved a good meal, and once retired, took over the kitchen making quite the variety of dishes, always with love. His friends quickly found out that Cris was smart, funny, opinionated, and yes, a bit difficult at times. Cris had a successful career in manufacturing and real estate, which allowed him to travel the world, and eventually bring his family to America. One of his proudest moments was becoming a citizen of the United States. He will be missed. He was predeceased by his son, Roland Gerards. Cris is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Nelke (van Woerkom) Gerards; his daughters, Michèle and Monique, her husband Robert King; his son, Chris; his grandchildren, Willem, Annabelle, Isabelle, Fletcher, Roland and Alex; and his two dachshunds, Lizzy and Oscar.
