Daniel A. Smith

Daniel A. Smith, age 74 years, son of the late Alexander and Sarajane Smith, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2020. He was a resident of Flemington, NJ. He is survived by his loving wife of twenty-four years, Eva Smith; his children, Jennifer Schmitz, Matthew Smith and Kurt Smith (Jacque); grandchildren, Elizabeth Rice (Zachary), Garrett Merski, Kevin Smith, Kyle Smith, and Matthew Smith, Jr. Daniel enjoyed his retirement from Merck & Co. Inc. where he worked as a manager for many years. A United States Army Veteran, Dan served during the Vietnam War as a gunner and radio operator from 1966-1968. A member of the Navesink River Hunting Retriever Club, he adored his beloved dogs, Billy and Buddy. With his wife Eva and two dogs, Dan enjoyed travelling and going to dog shows. A member of the Bass Master Club, Manville, NJ, Dan had a great passion for fishing with his sons, Matthew, and Kurt. Dan was also a member of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club USA and the Round Valley Fishing Association. At his request, funeral services will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
