David C. Murray, age 80 years, of Raritan Township NJ, died Monday, November 20, 2017, at Rehab at River’s Edge in Raritan NJ.
Born August 30, 1937 in West Orange NJ, David was the son of the late Joseph and Olive (Hammond) Murray. He was raised in Plainfield NJ and graduated with the Class of 1955 from Plainfield High School. After graduation, David served his country in the United States Navy.
David was a pioneer in the computer industry, working during the infancy of the computer technology, first for Mack Trucks, then with Ethicon and retired in 1994 as a Director in Computer Management with Johnson & Johnson. David was an avid reader, his favorite publication, “The New Yorker,” was always met with joyous anticipation.
In addition to reading, David loved the outdoors, trout fishing and to travel, taking many fly-fishing trips to Alaska, Wyoming, and Canada, as well as many sailing excursions to parts of the Caribbean with his friends.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his brother, Peter Murray. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn (Brauneisen) Murray, his son, Stuart Murray of Alexandria VA, his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Ellen Murray, his niece and her husband, Susan & John Marcus, and his nephew, Andy Murray.
Funeral services and cremation will be private under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington NJ.
