David K. Hindermann, age 79 years, formerly of Readington Township, NJ, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 in South Amboy, NJ.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, August 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Winfred and Joyce Peterson Hindermann. He had formerly resided in Minnesota, Chicago, and Kansas City before settling in Readington Township in 1979.
David spent a lifelong career of 35 + years within the family of AT&T companies (Bell Telephone, Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent and Agere) in roles spanning scientist and engineering to Project and Product Management and leading multiple teams in the rapid deployment of fiber optics and global communications.
Mr. Hindermann was a graduate of St. Olaf College, Northfield, MN. He received his doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Wisconsin. David lettered in football, basketball and track. He was All-Conference, All-Luther College and Honorable Mention Little All-American 1961. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Blue Key Honor Society.
A prominent member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ, David served as Church Council President for multiple terms, providing leadership during a period of rapid expansion and growth of the church and congregation. He was an active member of the Stephen Ministry as well as leading adult bible studies for many years.
His wife, Susan R. Hindermann, died in 2011. Surviving are a son, Mark D. Hindermann of Middletown, NJ; a daughter, Jennifer A. Hindermann of Marlton, NJ; three grandchildren, Anna and Jack Hindermann and Declan Murray; a brother, Mark J. Hindermann of Rochester, MN; a sister, Mary Heuston of Eagle River, AK; and several cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 11 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Route 31, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 from 5-8 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private.
