Donald C. Manning, age 68 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, June 9, 2011, at his residence.
Born in Phillipsburg, NJ, March 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Adolf and Margaret McEntee Manning.
A graduate of Missouri Valley College, where he was a member of it's athletic depatrtment hall of fame, Mr. Manning went on to play professional baseball with the New York Yankees AAA club, the Toledo Mud Hens.
Mr. Manning went on to a long teaching career with the East Amwell Township Schools, where he taught Physical Education and Health and coached baseball and basketball. He also served as the Athletic Director. The baseball fields in East Amwell are named for him.
He was currently the baseball coach at Hopewell Valley High School and was also active in legion baseball, where he coached the Flemington team for many years.
He is survived by extended family and his best friends, Ralph and Nancy Bianchi of Ringoes, NJ and Mary Venettone of Penn Valley, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Milford Union Cemetery, Milford, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
