Donald G. Montross, Sr., age 66 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at his home.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, August 24, 1946, son of the late Daniel And Elizabeth Cashin Montross, he had resided most of his life in the Flemington area.
He was a 1964 graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School, Clinton Township, NJ.
Don started his career in law enforcement with the Flemington Police Department and retired as Chief of Police of Raritan Township in 2000.
He was formerly a member of the Flemington Fire Department and served 1965-1968 with the US Air Force in the K9 unit and was stationed in Vietnam.
Don's family was most important to him and he loved the New England Patriots.
His lovely wife, Bonnie Stuart Montross, died in 2011 and a son Donald G. Montross, Jr., died in 2004.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley J. Montross of Milford, NJ and Kimberly A. Montross of Derry, NH; two grandchildren, Casey Smith and Dale Smith; two brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington. Calling hours will be Wednesday 6:00-9:00 PM.
