Donald J. Brezney, age 69 years, of Readington Township, NJ, died on Friday, December 19, 2008 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Cranford, NJ, March 18, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Marjorie Busch Brezney formerly of Garwood, NJ. He had resided in Garwood, NJ, Bridgewater, NJ, and then Readington Township, NJ, since 1977.
He was a United States Marine Corps veteran serving from 1957-1965.
Mr. Brezney joined Public Service Electric and Gas, Newark, NJ, and was a lineman the last eight years of his service to them, retiring in 1994. He spent thirty-seven years with PSE&G, many as an investigator working with agencies such as the FBI, CIA, and US Customs, primarily installing cameras on telephone poles.
Donald was an avid fisherman and was active in public service in Union County, NJ, serving on various boards and capacities and with the Democratic Party there. His main joys in life were his joy of fishing, whether it be salt water or freshwater, and his love of family. He was a member of the Asbury Park Fishing Club, and was inducted into the New Jersey Striped Bass Hall of Fame in 2004.
Surviving are his beloved wife of forty-one years, Jacqueline Wagner Brezney; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Fanny Brezney, of Bozeman, MT; a daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Michael Kovi, of Flemington, NJ; two sisters, Doris Polidore and Joan Savoye; and his four grandchildren: Hunter Brezney, Jack Kovi, Chase Brezney, and Abigail Kovi.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 8:45 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2-4PM and 7PM until time of service in the funeral home.
