Donald R. Gordon, age 79 years, of Franklin Township, NJ, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, December 24, 1938, son of the late Donald L. and Ruth McCandless Gordon, he had formerly resided in Westfield, NJ.
Engineer by trade, Donald was employed by Hunterdon Transformer Company in Alpha, NJ from April 1964-June 2000. A United States Navy Veteran, he was a life member of the Quakertown Fire Company and Quakertown Recreation Club.
He had a love for riding and collecting antique motorcycles and was an avid member of the Skyland’s BMW Motorcycle Club. Donald was also an airplane pilot and belonged to the Quiet Bird Man Association, Somerville, NJ. In his free time he would enjoy volunteering at the cardiac rehab facility at Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington, NJ.
Donald is pre-deceased by one brother, Wally Gordon in 1955; one sister, Andrea Gordon in 1944 and his first wife Catherine Ann Smith in 1999. Surviving are his wife of forty-four years, Mary Anne Gordon; two sons, Scott Gordon of Pittstown, NJ and Michael Gordon of Stillwater, NY, and two granddaughters, Natalie Gordon of Pittsburg, PA and Dorothy Hollingsworth of Long Pond, PA.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:30 AM in the Holiday Inn, 111 W Main Street, Clinton, NJ. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Cremation services were provided by Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ.
Memorial contributions in Donald’s name may be made to the Quakertown Fire Company, 67 Quakertown Rd, Pittstown, NJ 08867 or the Cardio Pulmonary Rehab Facility at Hunterdon Medical Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
