Don Wakefield Rumple passed away on December 10th, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 28, 1935 in Eaton, Illinois to Barry Townsend Rumple and Josephine Grace Wakefield, both deceased. He was also predeceased by his brother, Richard T. Rumple and his nephew, Jack Rumple.
Don grew up and graduated from Metuchen High School in 1953. He joined the US Navy and served from 1953 to 1956. He graduated from Rose Poly Tech in 1960 in Terre Haute, Indiana with a degree in mechanical engineering. In 1960, Don joined PSEG and worked as an engineer until his retirement in 1996. He is a lifetime member of the Hillsborough Rescue Squad after serving 18 years as a dedicated member. He was a deacon of the Neshanic Reformed Church and carried Christian values throughout his life. He was married in 1960, to his wife Suellen for 56 years. They spent their married life living in Neshanic and then Clover Hill New Jersey.
Don had a dedicated work ethic. He enjoyed taking care of his properties, building things, being outside despite the weather, and dogs. Most of all, he loved his family and would do anything for them.
Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Suellen, and his brother, Barry (Mike) Rumple; his cousins, Mary Bischoff and Audrey Simpson; his four daughters and their spouses Rebecca and Michael Kwiatek, Jenny Ziolko and Anthony Liccardi, Kathleen and Michael Ajamian, and Donna and Mitch Wegner. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Joseph and Hannah Kwiatek, Koryn Palumbo and Kayla Ziolko, Jonathan, Daniel and Steven Ajamian, and Zachary, Alexis and Leah Wegner, as well as his nieces and nephews, Richard and Jane Rumple, MaryJane Taylor, Charles Wenger and Catherine Coontz, Brian and Craig Rider. Don found great joy and blessings watching his great grandsons, Jude Paige and Reid Palumbo.
Services are private and under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington.
