Doris Cottrell Adams, age 93 years, of Flemington Borough, NJ, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2024, at her home.
Born in Trenton, NJ, September 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Dorothy (Snyder) Cottrell. She had resided in Hunterdon County, NJ all her life.
After graduating Flemington High School with the Class of 1948, she briefly worked as a telephone operator in the early 1950’s. She then became a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children.
Doris was a Hunterdon Medical Center hospital volunteer. In addition, she enjoyed sewing and working on puzzles. Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook and loving mother; she will be missed.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Rufus G. “Bud” Adams, who died in 2012; her son, Ricky, who died in 1976; as well as her siblings, Allen Cottrell in 2000, and Eleanor Tribbey in 2019.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Carol Adams and Joseph Hemphill of The Villages, FL; a son, Bob Adams, of Port Murray, NJ; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda Jo of Orlando, FL and Joseph Olivo of Flemington, NJ; and two grandchildren: her grandson, Christopher and his wife, Mariah, and her granddaughter, Jenny Adams.
Graveside services and burial will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the family plot in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Capner Street, Flemington, NJ. Following the committal at the cemetery everyone is invited to a celebration of her life at the South Branch Rescue Squad, 48 Old Highway 22, Clinton, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Doris’ name may be made to either the Hunterdon Healthcare Foundation, 9100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822 or to the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822.
