Dorothy Anne Bush, age 91 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home.
Born in New Brunswick, NJ, August 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Catherine O'Farrell Kelly.
A 1942 graduate of St. Peter's High School, New Brunswick, NJ, she was employed by Johns Manville in Bound Brook, NJ before she married her husband of sixty-six years, Harold P. Bush, of Ringoes, NJ in 1948. She and Harold raised their family first in Whitehouse, NJ, then in Stanton, NJ.
Dorothy was formerly active in the Girl Scouts and taught Sunday School at Our Lady of Lourdes, Whitehouse, NJ. She was also an avid golfer and member of the Beaver Brook Country Club, Annandale, NJ, and the Copper Hill Country Club, Raritan Township, NJ. She was a longtime communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ.
Her brothers, Gerard Kelly and Joseph Kelly and her sister, Marie Phelan, all pre-deceased her.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her three children: Harold J. Bush of Flemington, NJ, Larry R. Bush of Worcester, MA, and Melanie A. Bush of Flemington, NJ; five grandchildren: Jessica Weber of Readington Township, NJ, Sarah Bush and Eric Bush of Pompton Plains, NJ. Dr. Brian Bush of Ann Arbor, MI, and Jennifer Berlin of Columbia, MD; and one great grandchild, Benjamin Berlin.
"Our mother's own childhood had some deeply felt disappointments, but then she married Dad and found the strength and grace to turn it all around a make a wonderful, loving home for our family" said one of her children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
