Dorothy Benjamin

Dorothy Benjamin, age 92 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, January 10, 2016 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Flemington, NJ, March 5, 1923, she was the daughter of the late George Schooly and Ida Mildred Chamberlain Fitzer. She was a homemaker and a devoted caregiver to the many dogs, cats, birds and deer in her life.

She was predeceased by her husband, J. David Benjamin, and a brother, George Fitzer. Surviving are her brother, Donnie Fitzer; a sister, Peggy Chong; her brother-in-law, Sid Benjamin, and his wife, Isabel; and her nieces and nephews: Lani Chong, Liz Schaarschmidt, Jenny Albert, David Chong, Larry Hilzer, Bob Hilzer, Pam Gale, Bob Benjamin, and Gina Benjamin-Kuhnle.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 10 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested contributions to the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter, 576 Stamets Road, Milford, New Jersey 08848.
