Dorothy Carberry, age 100 years, formerly of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Monday, April 25, 2011, in Towanda Nursing Home, Towanda, PA.

Born in South Branch, NJ, December 11, 1910, she had resided most of her life in Raritan Township, NJ.

She was a member of the Clover Hill Reformed Church, Clover Hill, NJ and it's Women's Guild. She was Past Matron of Darcy Chapter #138 and a fifty year member there; Member of Ashlar Chapter OES, Pennington, NJ; member of Grandview Grange #124; member of the Hunterdon County Historical Society; member of the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead; former member of the Home Economics Committee of the NJ State Grange; member of the D.A.R.; and former member of the Hunterdon County Board of Agriculture.

She also volunteered at the Hunterdon Medical Center and Golden Talents, both in Raritan Township, NJ.

Her late first husband, J. Linton Alles, served as Hunterdon County Freeholder from 1952-1964. She is survived by two sons, J. Martin Alles of Wyalusing, PA, and George L. Alles of Westfield, PA; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Evelyn Faherty of Yardley, PA.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 1 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Cherryville Cemetery, Cherryville, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from Noon until time of service in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clover Hill Reformed Church, 890 Amwell Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844.
