Douglas Stanley Waldron, age 75, died Friday, February 14, 2020, at his home in Ringoes NJ surrounded by his family.
Born June 3, 1944 in Somerville NJ, Doug was the son of the late Stanley and Ruth (Kane) Waldron. He lived in Hunterdon County all of his life, moving to Delaware Township NJ, where at the age of eight, Doug was enamored by a young girl who lived down the street. He later married that very same girl, Barbara Emery, in 1964.
“Big Red,” as Doug was nicknamed, loved being around heavy equipment and began working with his brother-in-law at McPherson & Sons Excavating and then worked for Mannon Excavating in Flemington for many years. Doug had a gift for operating a grader, his skills were widely known throughout the area and for having the ‘ability to fix anything.’ He also drove and delivered fuel oil for Agway in Flemington for many years.
Doug was a race fan all of his life as well and spent countless hours helping his brother-in-law, Walt, run cars at various tracks in the Northeast.
Doug was the person that was always there to help anyone in need, and he rarely turned down a request to help. He loved camping with his family and the ‘Y-Nots Camping Club’ for many years, where many of the group would help to fix-up Camp Carr in Annandale.
In addition to his parents, Doug was pre-deceased by his sister, Dale Waldron, and his son Brian Waldron. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Barbara Emery Waldron, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward Stanley and April Ann (Greene) Waldron of Stockton NJ, and Douglas Stanley and Beth Ellen (Gleeson) Waldron of Flemington NJ, as well as his five grandchildren, Clayton, Parker, Sydni, Camille and Jonas, his sister, Joan Waldron Courser of West Halifax VT and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
