Edith F. Mccloughan

Edith F. McCloughan, age 100 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, passed away peacefully Thursday, August 29, 2019 at her home. Born in Stockton, NJ, February 19, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Emmert and E. Katharyn Porte Wilson. . She was a graduate of Rider College, Trenton, NJ and furthered her education at Ashland College where she became Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Students there. She met her first husband, Charles A. Swain, at Ashland and they married during World War 2. She lived an exciting life in Europe and throughout the United States while her husband was assigned to various duty stations designated important by the United States Air Force. During one of her husband's duty station at the Pentagon, Edith managed constituent issues involving veterans as Administrative Assistant to US Congressman Charles Mosher of the 13th District of Ohio. Edith was well loved by her family and many in her community and was known for her zest for life, contagious laughter and quick wit. She is pre-deceased by her first and second husband, Charles A. Swain and John McCloughan, as well as her son Richard B. Swain, who died in 2016. Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth C and Dianne Swain of Mission Viejo, CA. four grandchildren, Jason Swain, Julie Swain, Charles Swain and Shena Swain; and five great grandchildren, Georgia Swain, Preston Swain, Deacon Swain, Logan Swain and Lauren Swain. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 PM at Cornerstone Christian Church, Stockton, NJ.
