Edith Joan Lake, age 92 years, of Ringoes, NJ, passed away on Monday morning, March 3, 2025, at Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.

She was born in Trenton, NJ on February 9, 1933, and had resided in Hunterdon County, NJ since 1963.

A graduate of the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing, Trenton, NJ, she went on to have a long career as a Registered Nurse at the Hunterdon Medical Center maternity ward for 31 years.

Joan was an avid reader and had a lifelong interest in the Lindbergh Trial of 1935. Additionally, she loved visiting lighthouses, listening to her police scanner, and was a “cat person” through and through.

Furthermore, she attended Calvary Baptist Church of Flemington for many years.

She was predeceased by her daughter, the late Cathy Van Treuren, who died in 2022.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, G. Richard “Dick” Lake, of Ringoes, NJ; two sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Rhonda Lake and Scott and Elizabeth Lake, all of Ringoes, NJ; two grandchildren, Austin Van Treuren and Jonathan Lake; as well as her son-in-law, Brad Van Treuren, who resides in Delaware. 

Graveside services, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Union Cemetery – Ringoes, Boss Road, NJ. 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church of Flemington, 262 South Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
