Edmund David Reiss

June 30, 1954 — May 22, 2018

Edmund David Reiss, age 63 years, of Glen Gardner NJ, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township NJ, after a brief illness. Born in Newark NJ, Ed was the son of the late William P. and Patricia (Campbell) Reiss. While growing up in South Orange NJ, Ed was a graduate of Our Lady of Sorrows School, Seton Hall Prep and Seton Hall University. Ed was an active member of the local Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks in Clinton NJ. Spending time with Ed was always a joy. He was a warm-hearted, gentle person with a ready smile and quick wit. He was always ready for an adventure, road trip, or game of cards. He loved words and puns and was widely read, sharing much of his learning in good conversation. He will be missed by many. In addition to his parents, Ed was predeceased by his sister, Madeline Peeler. He is survived by his brother and sister-law-law, Leo and Miriam Reiss, his brother, John Reiss, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Kevin Arthur, and Agnes Reiss and her husband, James Zachara, as well as his brother-in-law, Lee Peeler. He is also survived by several beloved cousins, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, and a grand niece. A memorial service is being planned for a later date. Funeral arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family is grateful for donations in Ed’s name to his favorite charity, The Griffin Bridges Program - Seton Hall Preparatory School, 120 Northfield Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052.
