Edward A. Fitzsimmons

Edward A. Fitzsimmons, age 85 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at his home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, May 8, 1925, he had resided in Flushing, NY for many years prior to moving to Raritan Township four years ago.

A retired Sergeant with the New York City Police Department, working mainly out of the 13th Precinct in Manhattan, Mr. Fitzsimmons also was a Data Processor for Union Carbide, Danbury, CT.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and was a faithful communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-six years, Sara Lopez Fitzsimmons; a daughter, Bernadette Lopez-Fitzsimmons of Cold Spring, NY; three sons and daughters-in-law, Edward P. and Alissa Fitzsimmons of Sound Beach, NY, Michael M. and Michelle Fitzsimmons of Dacula, GA and Andrew P. and Karin Fitzsimmons of Flemington, NJ; six grandchildren, Sarah, Maria, Robert, Edward, Anna-Marie and Michael; and several nieces and nephews.

A daughter, Maria Teresa Fitzsimmons, died in 1964.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
