Edward G. Hons

Edward G. Hons, age 84, died at Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ on June 11, 2023.

He was born in Queens, NY, the son of the late Edward and Emma Hons. Edward raised his family in the NY and NJ areas and lived the remaining years of his life in Hillsborough, NJ.

Working as a systems technician for phone companies in the telecommunications industry, he started at New York Telephone in 1964 and retired from Verizon in 2010.

Over the years, Edward’s hobbies included fishing with his father, hunting with a bow and arrow, flying, bowling and going to train museums. Also, he enjoyed watching golf and hockey, reading, doing crossword and Sudoku puzzles and hearing about the adventures of his grand-dogs.

Edward is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cheryl, his daughters Shannon Vanderheiden (Brian) of Bethel, CT and Tara Hons of Hillsborough, NJ. He is also survived by his grandson, Tommy Vanderheiden of Bethel, CT, his sister, Gerry Nelli of Catskill, NY and her family, as well as many nieces and nephews.

As per Edward’s and his family’s wishes, funeral arrangements will be private.
