Edward J. Kirchner, age 85 years, of Holland Township, NJ, died on Thursday, April 6, 2006, in Warren Hospital, Phillipsburg, NJ.
Born in New York City, NY, July 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Robert and Agnes Kirchner. He had formerly resided in Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, and Frenchtown, NJ, before moving to Holland Township, NJ twenty years ago.
He was the owner and operator of Kirchner's Appliances, Frenchtown, NJ, for fifty years.
He was a 1940 graduate of Flemington High School, Flemington, NJ.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an Aviation Metalsmith First Class. He was a member of the Quadalcanal Campaign.
Mr. Kirchner was a former Councilman in the Borough of Frenchtown; a member of the Union Fire Company, Frenchtown, NJ, and it's Exempt Association; member of the American Legion Post #113, Frenchtown, NJ, and the VFW Post #7857, Milford, NJ.
Mr. Kirchner was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was pre-deceased by a brother, Henry Kirchner, in 2005.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Dorothy Florence Putcher Kirchner; three sons and daughters-in-law; Robert and Patricia Kirchner of Stockton, NJ; James and Peggie Kirchner of Allison Park, PA; and David and Cindy Kirchner of Alpha, NJ; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Cherryville Cemetery, Cherryville, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
