Edward James King, age 79 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, May 4, 2006, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Fletcher M. and Agnes King. He had formerly resided in Middlesex, NJ.
He was a retired Deputy Chief of Police with the Middlesex Police Department, retiring in 1989.
Mr. King was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Fireman First Class on the USS Sentry and the USS Barbican ACM5 ( Minesweepers). He was a member of the Naval Mine Warfare Association, the American Legion Post, Middlesex, NJ, and the Mount Carmel Society, Bound Brook, NJ.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Aldina Eleanor Ferdinando King; a daughter, Denise Aldina Mattie, of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother, Rodney King, of Hillsborough, NJ; two brothers-in-law, Clement Ferdinando of Edison, NJ, and Americo Ferdinando of Bridgewater, NJ; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
