Edward John Rafalko, age 93 years, of Bridgewater, NJ, died on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, NJ.
Born in Minooka, PA, May 4, 1920, son of the late Charles and Helen Tillman Rafalko, he had resided in Bridgewater for the past eighteen years, having formerly lived in Ringoes and Hillsborough, NJ.
The Valedictorian of Dimock High School, Dimock, PA, Edward faithfully served his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Master Sergeant in 1945 after five years of military service. He then went on to work as a Chemical Operator for American Cyanamid, Bound Brook, NJ for many years.
Edward was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved to read and was a big fan of the Olympics. He was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Parish, Somerville, NJ.
In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by four sisters and three brothers.
Surviving are his sister-in-law, Rita Ann Rafalko of Raritan Township, NJ; a nephew and his wife, Sylvester J. and Joyce Rafalko of Asbury, NJ; two nieces and their husbands, Cindy and Dan Hudock and Susan and Craig Wilson, all of Asbury, NJ; and several other nieces and nephews and extended family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Divine Mercy Parish, 312 Davis Street, Scranton, PA, 18505 under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, 08822. Interment will follow in St. Mary Czestochowa Cemetery, 3335 Greenwood Avenue, Moosic, PA, 18507. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Church.
