Edward L. Schaefer

Edward L. Schaefer, age 90 years, of Hillsborough Township, NJ, died on Sunday, April 17, 2005 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Newark, NJ, May 9, 1914 to the late Louis and Emma Louise Felauer Schaefer, he had resided in Hillsborough for the past sixty-one years, previously living in Neshanic Station, NJ.

He was a self-employed farmer and owner and trainer of race horses. An avid hunter and sportsman, Mr. Schaefer was a member of the Horseman's Benevolent Association of Pennsylvania.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Pauline E. Fiset Schaefer; a daughter, Bunny Hall of Clover Hill, NJ; a son, James E. Schaefer of Summit, NJ; a brother, Karl Schaefer of Cookstown, NJ; four sisters, Bertha Wharton of Fairlawn, NJ, Emma Kough of Columbia, NJ, Olga Polhemus of Bridgewater, NJ and Dorothy Norris of Columbia, NJ; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A son, Edward L. Schaefer, Jr., died in 1960.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Three Bridges Cemetery, Three Bridges, NJ.
