Edwin George Saddington

Edwin George Saddington, age 86 years, of Millington, NJ died on Monday, April 6, 2020 at his home in Long Hill Township, NJ. Born in Somerville, NJ on April 22, 1933, he was the son of the late Alfred Saddington and Isabel Dunwald (Smith). He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and also served his country in the US Army Reserves until he was honorably discharged in 1961. During Ed's youth he enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition, Ed was a lover of military history. He enjoyed Civil War re-enactments and everything that had to do with planes, battleships and submarines. He took every opportunity to visit air and space museums as well as train shows. Ed also enjoyed traveling, and during his travels he liked to explore the many historical landmarks on the East Coast. He was a life member of American Legion Post 91. Ed's passion was working as a mechanic; he loved to work on vehicles. In fact, he specialized in diesel mechanics. His knowledge of historic vehicles was always shared with car enthusiasts. He was predeceased by his first wife, Rose (Falzarano) Saddington in 1998 with whom he had eight step-children: Anna (deceased), Nicholas (deceased), Phyllis, Vincent, August (deceased), Bartholomew, George and Robert. He was also predeceased by the late Elizabeth (Radcliff) (Riker) Saddington in 2018 with whom he had 4 step-children: George, Cindy, Allen and Lisa. Funeral services with military honors will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
