Egidio Del Savio, age 88 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, May 6, 2011 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Caneva, Italy, December 14, 1922, son of the late Guerrino and Teresa Feltrin Del Savio, he met his wife in Arbon, Switzerland and then emigrated to the United States in 1954 with his family aboard the Andrea Doria. He resided in the Bronx, NY until 1993 when he moved to Raritan Township, NJ.
He was formerly a Tool and Die Maker for Delmor Machine and Tool Company, Bronx, NY.
A communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, Mr. Del Savio was also involved with the Hunterdon County Senior Center and was an avid Bocce player there. He greatly enjoyed birds and gardening, where he grew beautiful roses that were appreciated by many.
Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Alma Kaelin-Chiari Del Savio; a daughter and son-in-law, Adriana and Chris Voss of Raritan Township, NJ; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Laura Del Savio of Orangeburg, NY; and five grandchildren, Erich Voss of Tuckahoe, NY, Keith Voss and his fiancée, Claire Casaccio of Old Bethpage, NY, Daniel Voss of Raritan Township, NJ, Stephen Del Savio of Hoboken, NJ and Brian Del Savio of Orangeburg, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, preceded by a moment of prayer in the Church from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
