Eleanor Anderson

Eleanor Anderson, age 96 years, of Safety Harbor, FL, formerly of Flemington, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 20, 2009, in Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, FL.

Born in Ringoes, NJ, March 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Gertrude Strimple Kitchin.

She was a 1930 graduate of Flemington High School and a graduate of the Muhlenberg Hospital School of Nursing, Plainfield, NJ, where she was employed for many years. She was a registered nurse and American Red Cross Instructor, retiring from the Hunterdon Medical Center in 1978 after over twenty years of service there. She later volunteered for twenty years at the Mease Countryside Hospital, Safety Harbor, FL, after retiring to Florida in 1979.

She was a sixty-four year member of the Flemington Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Victory Chapter.

She was pre-deceased in 1983 by her husband, Donald Anderson, who worked for Walter Britton Nash, Flemington, NJ and later became a partner in Cottrell-Anderson Pontiac, Flemington, NJ, and later worked as a salesman for Taylor Chevrolet, Flemington, NJ; three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Gladys Anderson, of Ringoes, NJ, ten nieces and nephews, Lois Stewart of Flemington, NJ, Robert Ash of Bellevue, WA, Donald Ash of Bordentown, NJ, Betty Ann Kruppa of Longwood, FL, Thomas Kitchin of Sandbrook, NJ, Linda Hargis of Gilbert, AZ, Gil Titus of Deerfield, VA, Tom Titus of Flemington, NJ, Dan Titus of Ewing Township, NJ, and Faye Titus of Louisa, VA; and among many great nieces and nephews, Thomas J. Stewart, and his wife Marjorie, of Beach Haven, NJ.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 2 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held from 1 PM until time of service in the funeral home.
