Eleanor Carol Hilken, age 83, died Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg Campus in Bethlehem PA.
Born April 19, 1937 in Pittsburgh PA, Ellie was the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth Rita (Pancurak) Toth. She moved to the Hunterdon County area in 1963 and raised her family there.
Ellie was a Registered Nurse at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ, and a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
She loved living on her farm and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. Ellie had so many friends; her kindness and caring nature will be missed by anyone who was fortunate enough to have known her.
In addition to her parents, Ellie was pre-deceased by her husband, James Hilken in 1999. She is survived by her four children and their spouses, Liz Hilken-Bernhard and her husband, John Bernhard, Anne and Dean Ingram III, Shirley and Jim Gessner, and Jim and Mary-Kay Hilken, her three grandchildren, grandson Dean Ingram IV and his girlfriend, Azzy Troy, as well as her granddaughters, Jenny Gessner and Hannah Gessner.
Because of the events surrounding the pandemic, Ellie’s family will be broadcasting a funeral service privately from the funeral home via a ZOOM call beginning at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, August 5, 2020. Additional visitation with the family via ZOOM will follow the service until 2:00 pm. Details for joining the ZOOM session will be included on this website.
There will be a private interment in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington NJ, where she will be buried with her late husband, James.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ellie’s name may be made to Alcoholics Anonymous, General Service Office, Box 459, Grand Central Station, New York, NY 10163.
