Eleanor Mary Lomauro, age 83, died Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at home in Pittstown NJ.

Born April 27, 1931 in Paterson, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Eleanor R. (Spielberger) Carr. She was a 1948 graduate of Passaic Valley Regional High School in Little Falls NJ, and a 1952 graduate of William Paterson College, with a BS degree in Business Education. Certified in both elementary and business education, she taught 5th grade at Totowa Memorial School from 1952 to 1957. She was a member of Kappa Delta Pi (the national honor fraternity for education) and Pi Omega Pi (the national honor fraternity for Business Education). She also taught CCD classes at St. Catherine’s Church in Glen Rock, NJ.

She was an avid NY Giants baseball fan, and was a gifted athlete who played softball and basketball both in high school and in college. She played clarinet in the high school band and also sang in the high school choir. An accomplished piano and accordion player, she loved to travel in Europe.

Eleanor is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, James Allen Lomauro, her two sons, James F. Lomauro of AZ, and Thomas Lomauro of Denville NJ and his sons, Andrew and Matthew, four daughters and two sons-in law, Joyce Lomauro-Barlow and Peter Barlow of Portsmouth England, Susan Lomauro of Woburn MA, Amy Lomauro of Brookline MA, and Lynne French and her husband, Terence, of Pittstown NJ, as well as her grandchildren, Grace, T. Justus and Olivia French. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Carr and his wife Ann Merwerth of Fort Myers FL, and Robert Carr of Lincoln Park NJ, two sisters, Patricia Carr of Folsom CA, and Madeline Lombaerde and her husband, Robert, of Belmont CA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Friday, May 16, 2014 at St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Burial in the parish cemetery will follow. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
