Eleanor S. Haver, 94, of Pittstown NJ, died Friday November 18, 2022 in her home.
Eleanor was born on April 10, 1928 in Newark, NJ. Eleanor was the daughter of the late Philip and Irma Weger Samantchy. She lived in Pittstown, NJ for most of her life.
She was the wife of the late William E. Haver, Jr. They were married for 53 years at the time of his death in 2000.
She was a member of the National Honor Society and was valedictorian of the class of 1945 of Flemington High School.
She was a graduate of the New Jersey State College of Newark, New Jersey and was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society for educators. She taught in the Flemington Raritan School District and the Alexandria Township School District for a total of 26 years. She retired from teaching in 1985.
Eleanor was a member of the Delaware Valley Regional High School Board of Education for 15 years and was board president for 9 of those years. She was a member and served as president of the Woman’s Club of Clinton. She was also a member of the Quakertown Fire Company Auxiliary, NEA, NJEA and HCREA.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by her grandson, Steven E. Haver in 1999.
Eleanor is survived by a son, William E. Haver, III and his wife Barbara, three grandchildren Kristen and Kenneth Grievo, Jennifer and Maurice Byarm, and Alyssa and Jeremy Poinsett, and nine great grandchildren. She is also survived by her son, Robert E. Haver, Sr. and his wife Jill, grandson Robert E. Haver, II and his wife Stephanie, and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private and for the family at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street in Flemington, NJ on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. Interment will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Eleanor’s name may be made to the Quakertown Fire Company Auxiliary, 67 Quakertown Rd., Pittstown, NJ 08867.
