A celebration of life honoring Elizabeth will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Friends and family may visit an hour prior from 1:00 PM until the time of the service in the funeral home.

Elizabeth Anne Hilken-Bernhard, 59, passed away on December 8, 2023. She was born on December 20, 1963, in Matawan, NJ. Elizabeth grew up on a farm called Frog Hollow and had such wonderful memories from her childhood there. She was known for her kindness, wonderful sense of humor, and thoughtfulness towards others.

Elizabeth is survived by her husband, John Bernhard, and her stepchildren Lindsay Bernhard, Allison Bernhard, and Ryan Bernhard. She is also survived by her brother James E. Hilken and his wife Mary-Kay, her sister Anne Ingram-Hilken and her husband Dean, her sister Shirley Hilken Gessner and her husband Jim, as well as her nieces Jennifer Gessner, Hannah Gessner, and nephew Dean Ingram IV.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Hilken, her father, James T. Hilken, and her beloved cat of 21 years, Riley.

Elizabeth had a successful career as a surveyor and was a dedicated member of the Carpenter's Union Local 167 for many years.

In her free time, Elizabeth enjoyed a variety of hobbies including gardening, cooking, entertaining, reading, wildlife observation, walking, shopping, and music. These activities brought her joy and allowed her to express her creativity and love for nature.

Elizabeth Ann Hilken-Bernhard will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
