Elizabeth (Libby) Dalrymple
Born: June 18, 1927
Died: March 10, 2025
Aged 97 Years
Libby Dalrymple passed peacefully into eternal rest on Monday, March 10, 2025, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Woodbine, Georgia. Born on June 18, 1927, at home in Voorhees Corner, Flemington, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Harry M. Alles and Arietta B. Alles.
A proud member of the Flemington High School Class of 1945, Libby met her husband, Don, during her time there. They married on August 13, 1950, and were blessed with 72 years of love and partnership. Libby’s nursing career began in 1945 when she joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She graduated from the Mercer Hospital School of Nursing in 1947 and initially worked in the nursery, caring for newborns. After taking time to raise her children, she returned to the nursing field, working at Union Forge Nursing Home and later for Charlestown Medical Group, where she continued to serve her community with compassion until her retirement. Throughout her life, Libby was often sought out for her wisdom, compassion, and care by friends and neighbors.
After retiring, Libby and Don moved to Lavallette, New Jersey, before relocating to Florida, and eventually settling in Phoenix, Arizona, to be closer to family.
Libby is predeceased by her parents, her brother Fred Alles, her beloved husband Donald Dalrymple, and her daughter Deborah A. Dalrymple. She is survived by her daughter Nancy Hammack of Woodbine, Georgia, her son Jeffery Dalrymple of Bensalem, Pennsylvania, as well as four grandchildren: Kyle Hammack, Brent Hammack, Heather Beckmann, Alyssa Dalrymple, and four great-grandchildren.
Libby had a great love for the Jersey Shore, especially the time spent with family. An avid reader, she cherished a good book and enjoyed playing games like Rummikub, Train Dominos, and cards, often reminiscing about the “Card Club” she and Don once belonged to. A devoted Christian, Libby was an active member of many churches over the years, where she served in various leadership roles.
Services will be private and are under the direction of Holcombe Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
