Elizabeth Gulick

Elizabeth Gulick, resident of Flemington, NJ, died Thursday, May 8, 2008 in her childhood home surrounded by family. She was 65.

Born in Luzerne, PA, she was the daughter of the late Louis T. and Elizabeth Martin Shupnik.

Elizabeth was an alumna of Saint Ann’s Academy, Wilkes Barre, PA and an honors graduate of College Misericordia, Dallas, PA where she received a bachelor of sciences degree in elementary education.

Her 30 year teaching career included assignments in Luzerne, PA; Hillsborough, NJ; Bridgewater-Raritan, NJ and Flemington-Raritan, NJ from where she retired in 2001.

In addition to her parents, Elizabeth was preceded in death by her sister Attorney Nancy Shupnik.

Surviving are husband Dr. Robert Gulick, former superintendent of the Hillsborough Twp. Public Schools; daughter Kathleen Watrel and her husband Stephen of Jacksonville, FL; daughter Ellen Abere and her husband Doug of Millington, NJ; three grandchildren: Hannah Elizabeth Abere, Kathryn Elizabeth Watrel and Cecelia Louise Watrel; sister Mary Ellen Shupnik Schell, her husband Dr. Frank Schell and their children Elizabeth and Jacob of Luzerne, PA and Corey Rosentel, son of the late Nancy Shupnik, and his wife Liza of Swoyersville, PA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 19 at 10 am in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will follow in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ. The family welcomes friends to join them in a celebration of Elizabeth’s life at Holly Hedge Estate New Hope, PA following the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation (c/o the Elizabeth Gulick Fund), 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822. Donations will be used to assist cancer patients and their families who are in need.
