Elizabeth "Betty" Strouse, age 90 years, formerly of Flemington, NJ, died on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in Broomall Presbyterian Village Nursing Facility, Broomall, PA.
Born in Paterson, NJ, April 2, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Baird Kane.
A graduate of Paterson State Teachers College, she received her Masters Degree from Trenton State Teachers College. Mrs. Strouse taught for many years in the Flemington-Raritan School District, and then taught for fifteen years at Trenton State College ( The College of New Jersey).
An avid bridge player and button collector, she was a member of the Flemington Womans Club; several button societies, and was Past President of the Hunterdon County Retired Educators Association. While living in Flemington, Mrs. Strouse was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Three Bridges, NJ.
Her husband, Francis H. Strouse, died in 1992. Surviving are a daughter, Kathleen Reiss of Wynnewood, PA; a son, Patrick Strouse of Melville, NY; a granddaughter, Juliette Reiss of Los Angeles, CA; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Lois Danberry of Ringoes, NJ; and a dear friend, Evelyn Chambers of Flemington, NJ.
Funeral Services will be held at NOON, on Saturday, DECEMBER 23, 2006, in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held from 11 AM until time of service.
