Elmer L. Saums

Elmer L. Saums, age 81 years, of the Centerville section of Readington Township, NJ, died on Wednesday, November 1, 2006, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Neshanic Station, NJ, September 19, 1925, he was the son of the late Otho and Eva Vlerebome Saums.

He was a self-employed licensed electrical contractor and owner of Neshanic Electric Company.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Normandy invasion.

He was a member of the Crescent Shriners, the American Legion Post, Whitehouse, NJ, and the Neshanic Fire Company. He was also a licensed pilot.

Surviving are his wife of sixty years, Ida Elizabeth Allen Saums; a son, Robert L. Saums of Elkins, WV; two daughters, Janice L. Delesky of Mount Jackson, VA, and Sharon A. Brocklehurst of Clinton, NJ; a sister, Virginia Nahodyl of Raritan Township, NJ; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Neshanic Cemetery, Neshanic, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
