Elmer O. Funk, age 86 years, of Flemington, NJ, died on Saturday, December 24, 2005, in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Flemington, NJ, May 1, 1919, son of the late Elmer and Annie Laubach Funk, he had resided in Flemington, NJ all of his life.
He was formerly employed by Hylan Oil Company, Flemington, NJ and retired after more than thirty years there. He also was a Special Police Officer in Flemington, NJ for many years.
A 1939 graduate of Flemington High School, Mr. Funk was a member of the Flemington United Methodist Church and the Flemington Exempt Firemen's Association. A United States Army veteran of World War II, he was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant.
His wife, Margaret Stiles Funk, died in 2000 and a son, Jeffrey Funk, died in 2005.
Surviving are a son, Elmer Funk III of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a sister, Martha Lamendola of Flemington, NJ and nieces and nephews.
Interment was private in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
