Elvin R. Lukenbach, Ph.D.

Elvin R. Lukenbach, Ph.D., age 62 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Iowa, April 22, 1942, son of the late Walter and Carol Roelse Lukenbach, he had resided in Raritan Township for the past seventeen years, previously living in Somerset, NJ.

Dr. Lukenbach was currently serving as Associate Director of Research and Development for Johnson and Johnson Consumer Companies, Skillman, NJ where he had worked for the past thirty years.

The holder of numerous patents for Johnson and Johnson, Dr. Lukenbach attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln for his undergraduate work. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois and did much post-doctorate work at the University of Wisconsin. He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the American Chemical Society and numerous other professional organizations.

An avid golfer, Dr. Lukenbach had a passion and love for music. He was an accomplished violinist with the Hunterdon Symphony as well as with the Central Jersey Symphony.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Jean Nether Lukenbach; and a brother, Lloyd Lukenbach of Boise, Idaho.

Memorial Services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Clinton Presbyterian Church, 91 Center Street, Clinton, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
