Elvira Hermann, known to friends and family as Vi or Vivian, passed away on April 23, 2020 at the age of 94. Born in Paterson, NJ she was a beloved mother, wife, daughter and a friend to many.
She married Edward M. Hermann in May 1956 and they welcomed their son Edward Jr. into the world in May 1965. They moved from Lodi in 1972 when they bought a home in Flemington, NJ where they settled and lived for the next 38 years. In recent years, Vi has resided in Lawrenceville, NJ to be closer to her son and his family.
Vi had a long and varied career working in manufacturing, with a specialty in electronics and final assembly. She worked at Argus International in Ringoes, NJ at the time of her retirement in 2005 at the age of eighty.
She will always be remembered for her wonderful baking and her ability to put together great meals for a crowd. In her younger years she was a passionate bowler, almost going pro at one point. Family always came first to her and she was very devoted to caring for those she loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband Edward Hermann Sr., her parents Maria and Vincenzo Averello, and her siblings Salvatore, Marie, Vincent and Ann. She will be missed but never forgotten by her devoted son Edward, his loving wife Janie and her grandson Alex who brought her much joy.
The arrangements were private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A celebration of life will follow at a later date and time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon Street, Princeton, NJ or to HomeFront, 1880 Princeton Ave., Lawrenceville, NJ
