Ernest Koye

Ernest Koye, “Ernie”, age 75 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Friday, May 07, 2021 at his home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend.

Having been born in New Brunswick, NJ, on June 24, 1945, Ernie was the son of the late Alex and Anna Koye. He attended New Brunswick schools and graduated from New Brunswick High School in 1963. He later served in the New Jersey National Guard for several years.

Ernie worked for Johns Manville, Condren Corporation where he was a shop steward of the AFLCIO Local 194 and president of their social club. Later he worked for Sears Department Store and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

Music, current events, woodworking, taking photos and being with his children and grandchildren were among Ernie’s favorite activities.

Ernie is pre-deceased by two siblings, Elsie Zelino and Joan Grogan.

Ernie is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Eileen Koye; son, Matthew E. Koye and his wife, Lisa; one daughter, Lisa A. Murtaugh; grandchildren, Matthew E. Koye, Jr., Emily R. Koye, Christopher M. Koye, Sean A. Murtaugh, and Kevin P. Murtaugh.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at 11:00 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment in St. Magdalen Mausoleum will be held privately. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the funeral home.
