Erwin "Erv" Kessel died after a long battle with cancer on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at home surrounded by his family at his bedside. He was 60.
Born in Vocklabruck, Austria he came to this country in 1952 with his parents and siblings. Erwin graduated in 1967 from Hunterdon Central High School. He served in the United States Airforce from 1968 to 1972. Erv was an avid fisherman. He fished the waters from the Great Lakes to the Florida Keys.
He was the owner and operator of EK Engineering in Franklin Twp. for 15 years, previously a co-owner of M & M Machine Shop in Pittstown.
Erv was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Susanna Kessel of Pittstown; brothers Michael of Milford and George of Annandale.
He is survived by his son, Kristopher Kessel, daughters Jaime Kessel and Ashley Messina; grandchildren Ethan and Talon Messina; sister Susan Kopp and her husband Richard; brother John Kessel and his wife Pia; sister Katherine Kessel; brother Samuel Kessel and his fiance’ Patricia Ciak; brother Jack Kessel and his wife Beverly; sister Rose Marie Coraci; and brother Fred Kessel.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
