Deceased Name: Estella Chilmonik -- was a stock car driver Estella Chilmonik, 84, of Greenbrook, N.J., formerly of Flemington,died Tuesday, Feb. 5, in Somerset Medical Center, Somerville, N.J.
She worked at U.S. Hammer and Piston Rings in Somerville before retiring. Before that, she worked at Cornell Dubilier Condenser Corp. in Stirling, N.J.
Born April 17, 1917, in Flemington, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret Van Camp Lane. She resided in Greenbrook for more than 40 years.
She was a former stock car driver in Powder Puff races in Old Bridge, N.J. She was a member of the Greenbrook Rescue Squad Ladies Auxiliary for more than 25 years and was a Girl Scout leader in Greenbrook for 10 years. She enjoyed bowling and roller skating. Her husband, Bernard, died in 1996.
She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Gregoletti and Doris Bodo, both of Raritan Township, and June Ferrante in Florida. Four brothers, Donald, Edwin Jr., Arthur and William; and three sisters, Helen Lesko, Catherine Norgard and Eleanor Stuart, died earlier.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main St., Flemington. Call from 1 p.m. Saturday to time of services in the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Flemington. The family requests memorials to Greenbrook Rescue Squad, 115 Greenbrook Road, Greenbrook, NJ 08812.
