Ethel B. Emmons, age 97 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Sand Brook, NJ, December 15, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Edith Terry Culberson.
Ethel worked for many years at the Locktown Sweater Shop, and at Sears, Flemington, NJ. She enjoyed traveling to Europe, Hawaii and the scenic United States with her late husband.
A lifelong resident of Delaware Township, NJ, Mrs. Emmons was the oldest member of the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church, where she was an active volunteer, as well as a member of the choir, the Women’s Group, and a Sunday School teacher; the Delaware Township Senior Citizens, where she served as the Secretary, and the Spicy Seniors Bowling League until she was 93. She helped start the Hot Lunch Program at the Delaware Township School in 1952.
Ethel loved to have her family gathered around her. She was always known to help others in need.
Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Arleigh Emmons, and all her siblings. Surviving are her daughters, Anita Bush of Flemington, NJ, and Brynn Gaunt of Glen Gardner, NJ; a son, Lyle Emmons, of Delaware Township, NJ; her seven grandchildren: Darren Bush, Andrea Bush, Scott Emmons, Racine Hindelong, Desiree Borusiewicz, Dena Thompson, and Derek Gaunt; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11 AM in the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 7 PM to 9 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
