Ethel Bartone

DELAWARE TOWNSHIP – Ethel Bartone, age 99, died Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ.

Born March 3, 1916, in North Bergen, NJ, Ethel was the daughter of the late Nathan and Therese Katherina (Mueller) Backenroth. Ethel lived for many years in the Bergen County area before moving to the Hunterdon County area in 1973 where she has lived since.

Ethel was a member of the Hillsborough Senior Citizens Club, but was most proud about being a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

She was predeceased her husband, Anthony Bartone in 1973, her daughter, Joan Bours and her great-grandson, Anthony Abbatiello, as well as two sisters and a brother. Ethel is survived by her daughter, Janet Mae Abbatiello, her granddaughter, Karen Rishar, her grandsons, George Bours, Dominick Abbatiello III, and Anthony Abbatiello, and her granddaughter, Penni Nitti. She is also survived by her seven great-grandchildren, Amanda Clipper, Kayla Abbatiello, Christina & Theresa Nitti, Grace Abbatiello, DJ Rishar and Paul Rishar, as well as her four great-great grandchildren, Anthony Abbatiello, Anderson Clipper, Ivy and Alice Rishar.

A private memorial service is being planned for a later date.
