Evelyn Dorothy Bell, age 98, died Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Country Arch Care Center in Pittstown NJ.

Born August 10, 1925 in Wallington NJ, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Nemeth. She spent her youth in Wallington and graduated from Rutherford High School. Evelyn lived in Wallington and then moved to Oakland NJ before eventually settling on Culver Lake in Sussex County, NJ in 1977. She was married for 58 years to the late Frank J. Bell, II until his passing in 2010.

Evelyn’s first job was working as a telephone operator and secretary for the former Standard Bleachery in Passaic NJ. From there, she was employed as an Administrative Assistant with Merrill Lynch in Morristown and also worked in retail sales for the former Bamberger’s, eventually retiring. Later she was an Independent Sr. Consultant with Mary Kay for five years, travelling to Dallas with her daughter-in-law to meet Mary Kay Ash.

Evelyn led a very active life, she loved to keep a flower and herb garden and for many years belonged to the local garden club in Oakland. With her love for the outdoors, she spent many summers at Culver’s Lake in Branchville and with friends in Hackettstown, where she would spend hours fishing and enjoying the fresh air or you might find her playing a round of golf with her many friends.

She was a talented artist and painter, working with oil and watercolors, she loved the styles of Andrew Wyeth and his grandson, Jamie Wyeth. She was very proud of the many blue ribbons she won at The Sussex County Farm & Horse Show and New Jersey State Fair.

In addition to her other interests, Evelyn was a great cook and baker – her cakes and cookies were always favorites with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, sharing adventures and lots of laughs.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Frank J. Bell, II, and is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank J. Bell III and Greta Eichlin-Bell, of Pittstown NJ, and David and Denise Bell of Cedar Knolls NJ, and her three grandchildren, Maggie, Carey and Eric Martin, and Caven and Leanne Bell.
