Evelyn E. Chambers

Evelyn E. Chambers, age 97 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Flemington, NJ, August 16, 1924, daughter of the late J. Dorman Barrick and Ethel Risler Barrick, Evie had resided in the Flemington area all her life.

She was a Data Processing Manager at the Hunterdon Medical Center for many years, retiring in 1989.

A 1942 graduate of Flemington High School, Evie was a member and former deacon of the Flemington Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Col. Lowrey Chapter of the DAR, Flemington, NJ, and volunteer at the Samuel Fleming Castle, Flemington, NJ. She was also a former member of the Flemington Woman’s Club and the 4-H Club. Evie was an avid bridge player who also enjoyed gardening and traveling the world, where her travels took her to five continents. In addition, she formerly was a volunteer for the Hunterdon County SPCA.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Harry J. Chambers, who died in 1987 and her son, Kevin J. Chambers, who died in 2021. She was also pre-deceased by her siblings, James Barrick, Wilmer Barrick, and Mary Mansch.

Surviving are her granddaughter, Jennifer Chambers and her boyfriend, Andrew, of Feasterville-Trevose, PA, and her daughter-in-law, Wendy Chambers of Flemington, NJ.

Public funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.
